  • Biba Margarine is a Success in West Africa

    May 2021

Gambia, the smallest country in mainland Africa surrounded by Senegal, except for its western coast on the Atlantic Ocean, happens to be a huge fan of our Biba margarine. Why? It is actually pretty simple. Margarine is the most commonly used fat when it comes to cooking and spreading and needs no refrigeration. Biba formula delivers multipurpose margarine with the greatest taste at the most affordable prices and can be stored for months at room temperature without losing its sense of freshness.

Although we have been selling to this particular market for the past six years, we observed sales booming in the last six months, duplicating already in 2021. As per our local distributor, we would surely sell more if we adapt our packaging to buckets with at least a 10kg capacity, so we are now launching this new SKU, available in the market as of June 2021.

Our FMCG department is very optimistic about this launch, which, in a way, will serve as a trial for our main markets in Angola, Mozambique, and others, given that the consumer behavior is very similar when it comes to margarine consumption.

Further portfolio expansions are on the way for the Biba brand in our primary market in Angola, with the introduction of Biba Processed Cheese and, in the future, Biba Cooking Cream in a tin. Besides these, Biba Sweet Condensed milk and Biba milk powder are already being packed locally in Angola. We continue to develop Biba brand products for Angolan consumers at affordable prices and excellent quality.
