Tcostone, our mining company located in Virei municipality in Namibe, donated pharmaceutical supplies and biomedical equipment to the municipality hospital as part of its ongoing support to the local community.

The municipality of Virei is one of the most affected by the severe drought that is hitting southern Angola and became the focus of the locust plague in the Namibe province recently, having already destroyed five hectares of crops.

Working closely with the local communities and authorities, Tcostone has stepped up to repair water wells, machinery, and equipment, in a continuous effort to irrigate crops and assure water to the populations.

Understanding the dire situation faced by the municipality, Tcostone has donated essential pharmaceuticals, from antibiotics to vitamins and medical equipment, to the local hospital to cover their needs for at least two weeks.

According to local newspapers, the drought and the locust plague have, so far, affected around 4.000 families that depend on agriculture and livestock as means of subsistence.
