  • Webcor's US$45 million partnership with Arcor is about to hit its sweet spot

    Dec 2021

Construction of the Dulceria Nacional cookie and candy factory, a partnership between Webcor and Arcor with an expected 6,000 tons of the region's best-loved brands in the first year, is starting to roll off testing in production lines.

Located in Viana, district of Luanda, the Dulceria Nacional factory is now testing to evaluate its production lines' performance and calibration. Currently, Bon o Bon line is fully operational, and 80% of the cookies industrial equipment is already completed, with the mass production of Bon o Bon set to begin in February 2022, followed by biscuits in March.

The partnership between Argentinian multinational Grupo Arcor and Webcor was signed in May 2018 for a total investment of US$45 million. The factory is expected to produce around 6,000 tons of biscuits, candy and chocolates annually in the first year, and scaling up to 15,000 tons afterward to serve both the local market and those of neighboring Congo, Namibia, Zambia, and Botswana, bringing a competitive advantage in terms of cost and distribution.

Equipped with the latest cutting-edge production systems and staffed by highly specialized teams, Dulceria has a production capacity of 600 kg/h of Bon o Bon and 1,200 kg/h of biscuits.

For Wissam Nesr, Webcor Group CEO, “the new factory marks another milestone in Webcor's history of direct investment in Angola, underlining the Group's commitment to expanding its local production footprint in the region.”
